The Bible teaches that when we serve the poor and rejected, it's as if we are serving God Himself.

Matthew 25:40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

One Simple House ...

Blair, Sera, Robyn

Is Now A Wonderful Home.

My sister Robyn and I (Blair), met our dear aunt Sera on the first day of our arrival on March 8th. Since then we have spent most of our time with Sera becoming closer and learning about each others lives. Robyn and I take every chance we get to spend some time with Sera's boys at Caring Place. Some time back Sera informed us that the landlord of the house they are living in is demanding too much from her and making them move to a different home. We knew Sera was stressed over all the drama of her situation but we had no way of helping except to encourage her. She explained the difficulties of searching for a house and a landlord who would be accepting of her having 20 boys living with her. The best we could do was pray and be patient that God would find a way and guide her in the right direction.
Robyn and I have been so blessed to be able to stay in Uganda for more then two weeks, or even one month. We have been here for 3 and a half months, and we have one more month to go. I believe the longer you stay in an unknown place, you start to see underneath the surface, you get to know the way things really are. You find that many organizations are corrupt in some way or another. I have learned that Sera truly loves these boys, because she knows where they come from and she can relate to them. Sera is genuine in her loyalty to the care and love that these kids need. Sera doesn't use these boys as an opportunity of income, or her personal needs financially. God gave her the heart of love and patience to raise 20 boys. I can't imagine anyone else more perfect for what she does.

My sister and I have enjoyed every moment with our auntie and her boys. I have been watching her stress level get higher and higher as she was on a hunt for a new home. The troubles she kept running into were that rent was too much, housing conditions, and of course the hesitation that the landlords had at the mention of 20 boys being residents. Sera was constantly remembering that God would take care of her and show her the way, which can be difficult when it seems there is no way. She was doing her best to find a place in town so that the boys could continue at the same school. When she was sure she had checked every house in town she decided to branch out and see what was out there. On Wednesday June 22, Sera took us to a house that she was calling her new home. I was so excited because as soon as I saw the house, I knew that God was in it. She had the key and walked us through her home with a huge smile. I felt so happy and satisfied that she found a nice place. Later on Sera told me that the landlord was great. He told Sera he doesn't care about the kids living there, and he actually appreciated her for what she was doing for the boys. He said that he would come back to the house in three months and if the house was in good condition then he would leave her alone. Sera said it was the first time she had ever heard a landlord say "you can even pay me one month and move in". We laughed and smiled a lot because this move is taking a step forward.

Tomorrow Sera is moving some things to the new house and also informing the boys of the shift taking place. On Saturday she plans on the move being finished. Right now her biggest obstacle is getting to boys to school.  She will be living out of town and she has no way of transporting the boys to and from school. We asked about them changing schools but found out that you can only change schools at the beginning of a year, not in between terms. So we are letting God make a way and until He shows us His plan, we are rejoicing for the gifts he has placed in our hands.

with love.
Blair Olivia.
